VYHELLA – THE GODDESS OF FORTUNE | The Arachne #

The goddess of fortune, Vyhella. Also known by outsiders as “The Arachne.”

Vyhella was known for being part human and part spider, according to ancient mythology: These beings were called Arachnes, hence the name Vyhella was given by outsiders.
Vyhella was once a beautiful young woman, aging up to only 20 years old. Living in a small village near a beautiful forest. One day, she caught what she thought was an ordinary cold, but began to turn into something way bigger.
Coughing, sneezing, watery eyes and a sore throat. The ordinary symptoms of a cold, however: As time went on, the cold got worse. Stomach pain, migraines, extreme fatigue and sleep deprivation.
Vyhella was too naive to understand what was happening, this went on for a few weeks- Until she couldn’t handle it any longer.
She went to the nearest doctor, which in turn she got the medication prescribed. 1 week passes. Nothing, she still felt the same pain.
She went to another doctor, which again, she got the medication prescribed. Another week, and still the same pain.
Tired of all the pain, she decided to take a risk. Leave the village and search far and wide for a doctor who knew what was going on.
Vyhella prepared everything, food, water, supplies, medkits- Everything she could use. The next day, she said goodbye to all her friends and fellow villagers, then proceeded to exit the village.
She walked for hours and hours on end, with no sight of any building or house.
Until, she saw something. She didn’t know what it was, it was massive. White body, it sort of looked like a blob. Either way, It ran at her at full speed, she couldn’t outrun it. Fear took over, and when she least expected it-
Vyhella woke up on a sofa, in an old living room. “Where am I? What happened?” These two questions roamed around in her mind.
She started observing her surroundings, it seemed like an ordinary house. Oblivious, Vyhella shouted “Is anyone here? Hello?” In hopes to find someone. However, she didn’t get an answer. She got up, and looked around the house; nothing but old and antique furniture. Old and abstract paintings on the walls..
She got to the kitchen, where she found a bowl of soup and a note. The note said: “Hey, I found you knocked out unconscious in a forest, you seemed extremely sick. So I took you here, please drink the soup next to you as it will make you feel a bit better. Feel free to roam around or leave if you want to!”
Without a doubt, Vyhella drank the soup next to her. Even though she had no idea what this person put in the soup, it definitely tasted good.
Vyhella went to take a nap, and woke up in the afternoon. She was ready to leave and continue on with her journey to find a doctor.
Roaming for a bit more, something felt off.
Vyhella felt a bit itchy, the next hour, she felt burning and annoying pain where she itched.
Since she was paying more attention to what was happening to her and not where she was going, she tripped and fell.
Her body started shaking uncontrollably, she heard her bones start to brittle: She started feeling immense pain, her back- Stretched far, and so did her legs. Her left eye popped out of her head, she screamed in agony.
Her skin started to rot, she felt something move inside her stomach: 2 other arms pierced through her stomach, ripping her insides out. Her waist also suffered the same fate.
“SOMEONE! HELP ME! HEL-” …And in a blink of an eye, she couldn’t speak anymore.
The more she screamed the more pain she felt, until she passed out.
“This is it.. I’m dead.” Vyhella said to herself, thinking she was already dead.
Unexpectedly- She woke up. How? Has she been put back to life but as a ghost?
Her vision turned drowsy, another migraine.. So she must’ve not died? Or did she?
“Was that a dream? Was I hallucinating? Am I a ghost? Did I die?”
Vyhella turned an eye to her body, she was frightened! Shocked!
Her once beautiful skin turned spider-like, her arms now equipped with sharp fangs, able to pierce through anything. Her legs, now 8 of them- Her face! Everything felt so surreal.
“What happened to me?” She tried to pinch herself in order to wake up. This surely wasn’t happening, this is surely a dream.
A few days passed, and Vyhella decided to lock herself away from any type of civilization or social interaction. Ashamed, embarrassed and scared of what she had turned into.
This went on for exactly 105 years, living in a cave as a spider for the rest of eternity.
One night, however, she heard fire, laughs and footsteps. Scared, she hid away.
Vyhella heard whoever that is, say something about caverns, exploring? Insects? She had no idea.
This was her first encounter with a human in a long time. Her thought drove her away too far and-
She was seen. There were 3 people standing below her, looking at her, not with fear or disgust, but with confusion.
She tried to communicate. “Don’t kill me!”
The 3 started laughing, Vyhella didn’t know why. “Why would we kill you?” one of the three said.
Vyhella responded: “Because I’m a monster, look at me! I’m an ugly and gross spider.” The three however weren’t seeing the problem at all.
They took Vyhella to an extremely big building that was actually very close to her cave.
“What is this place?” Vyhella asked while gasping at the architecture and how many people there were around the building.
“The Church of Decay.” One of them responded.
She looked back at the three, now seeing their faces clearly. All of them were wearing these masks.. They seemed peculiar. Two of them had a skull, and the other had antlers.
A few years later, one of the biggest raids against the Order of Sound happened.
Bloodshed, weapons, projectiles, spells.. Everything was so violent.
With the raid being over and the Church of Decay being victorious, a member fell in.
Although Vyhella might not have the appearance that she had before, she still had a golden heart.
She took care of the member, and they got better. Better than before, actually.
Vyhella being a sort of healer of the Church, owned her title as “The Spider Nurse.” As time went on, Vyhella was tired of seeing everyone get sick since they weren’t careful while fighting and stumbled upon a cold or a fever. Just to get treated, and get sick again.
From that day and forth, Vyhella told the 3 members her plan. “I’m going to create a team of people that can help me treat the members that keep getting continuously sick, I’m tired of doing this alone.”
The 3 members thought it was a good idea, so they assisted.

Unfortunately, due to unknown reasons Vyhella died a few years ago. No one knows why, where or how. No one ever dares speak about it unless they’re not surrounded by people or being watched by one of the superiors.
All we know is that one day, Vyhella will return. She gave us the ability to learn the art of medicine, the ability to save lives and so much more.
One day Vyhella will return. I’ll be honest, it’s unlikely. But that doesn’t stop me from hoping she one day will come back.
